Gwen Samuel's story is rooted in family, service, community, and a belief that ordinary people deserve a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, Gwen learned early that leadership means service, accountability, discipline, and putting the mission before yourself. Those values have guided her work throughout her life.

As a mother, grandmother, community advocate, small-business owner, and longtime Connecticut resident, Gwen has spent years working alongside families and communities. She founded the Connecticut Parents Union and has advocated for parents, children, educational opportunity, government accountability, and greater community participation in public policy.

Her work has brought her from kitchen tables and community meetings to the halls of the Connecticut State Capitol. Along the way, Gwen has worked with people across political, racial, economic, and community lines because she believes lasting change requires listening to people who may not always agree.

Why I'm Running

I have spent years advocating from the outside. Now I am stepping forward to serve from the inside.

I am running for Connecticut State Senate District 9, serving Newington, Rocky Hill, Cromwell, and portions of Middletown and Wethersfield, because families deserve representation that listens, asks difficult questions, and puts people ahead of politics.

I know what it is like to raise a family, build a business, serve our country, advocate for change, experience setbacks, and keep moving forward.

I am not running because I believe one person has all the answers. I am running because I believe the people we represent should always have a seat at the table.
